Here we have presented some information about the world's languages. We make no claims about the completeness of the information. It is intended to assist you in deciding which languages to use for your website translation.

There are around 6800 languages known to exist. Of these, about 2200 are in written form. The remainder are only spoken.

Pro-Tran's database contains languages that are spoken by more than 1000 persons. The result is around 4500 languages, which we separate into "primary" and "secondary". Languages are classified as "primary" if they are spoken by more than one million persons. Slightly more than 300 languages fall into this category. You have direct access to these primary languages via the list below. You can access the entire language database via the language selection window to the right.
